Prashant Kumar, Secretary

Prashant Kumar has been playing flute for decades and been playing video games for longer. Now as a current NYC resident, he is excited to be able to combine both passions and serve in a board capacity to bring this interest to both gaming musicians and broader orchestral audiences. Early in his life, Prashant received training in Hindustani classical music on the harmonium as part of the Sanskruti School in Pittsburgh, often as instrumental accompaniment to vocal groups. This musical focus shifted to the flute, and as a student of the Parasky Flute Studios, Prashant developed a lifelong love of the flute. In marching bands, he participated in the Rose Parade as part of Band of America and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Still, Prashant's preferences lean toward the concert, chamber, and flute choir settings and has participated in the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair and NFA youth flute choirs, with experience in harmony flute parts. After a gap from flute performance, Prashant has returned to his roots as a student of Lish Lindsey and a member of the Press Start Orchestra flute section in New York City. As a member of the audience, Prashant's preferences include both classical and the orchestral video game music repertoire. Besides programming often found at Carnegie Hall, his first Distant Worlds concert was in Chicago, and he has been a devout attendee to MAGFest for nearly all years since 2018, constantly finding inspiration and motivation from the community of talented and enthusiastic artists.
